About 19,000 bio-sand filters have been installed in homes, schools, and clinics in the Dominican Republic, and Rotarians all over the world have contributed to projects promoting community education about clean water and sanitation. was just introduced to bio-sand filter technology by Bob Hildreth and Sara Lucena,
of the Rotary Club of Puerto Plata Isabel de Torres, Puerto Plata. Hildreth is the
water projects chair for District 4060 and has facilitated the installation of 19,000
bio-sand water filters in homes, schools, and clinics, inspiring Rotarians all over
the world to contribute to sustainable projects promoting clean water and sanitation.
